3 Pearls of Wisdom from Christmas

typoramaHappy Holidays to you all!  For me it’s Merry Christmas 🙂

It’s the day after Christmas, and as I reflect upon in this season, there are a few thoughts I am pondering that I would like to share with you.  But first, wanna take a little ride through the illuminated forest with me?

Picture this.  It has snowed, the air is crisp and cool, we are all bundled up in a sleigh, hot cocoa or tea in hand, and we are slowly gliding through this enchanted forest where lights adorn branches all around us on our way.

Are you there?  Ok.  Imagine that the forest is one where each light has the answer to a piece of wisdom you seek and today, you have been given a chance to pick 3 of those lights.  What answer would you look for?  Which 3 have you received in 2015?

I have been graced with quite a few of those magical light bulbs throughout 2015 and I am still discovering the meaning of several of them.  Here are three light-bulb-wisdom-nuggets of mine I want to share with you today:

  • Live life, it’s not all that serious!typorama-2

As you know from previous posts, I have been dealing with anxiety for a long time and it has affected several aspects of my life.  Many of you shared your battle with this throughout the series I posted (Thank you!)  The battle is REAL.

But what I have learned is that in many instances, it comes from taking life all too seriously.  There could be valuable time and energy saved and better effectively repurposed if we saw our problems at their true size.  I understand that the issue lies in that we can be deficient in knowing how to do just that: seeing issues as they are.  But taking time to inventory the issues and taking the time to process them can arm us with a much sounder point of view and enable us to learn how to enjoy life through the process.

So many things were clogging my life that I was losing track of enjoying life itself…  Taking things too seriously can bring so many negative feelings and uptightness that you cannot relax and take in the beauty of life.  So I embarked on a journey of relaxation and am gradually finding ways to let things go, and I will take you along with me in following posts too!

  • typorama-3Surround yourself with meaningful people.

What I mean by that is blunt but effective.  Not to be negative or hate on people, but do assess your surroundings: don’t waste your time with people who do not support your efforts to be a better person.  We are here to help one another and to be of service to each other.  We are each blessed with gifts to share with others.

People who take you down and do not contribute to your betterment have no place in  your life.  To reach your full potential and your purpose, unarguably I submit to you that we all need people around us who will champion and affirm us.  Qualify people to be in your life.  Love on all, but be selective of who is in your immediate environment.

  • typorama-4Believe in your value.

Well!  This one is one of the tough one for me.  I don’t know about you, but in order to accept the point right above this, you have to believe in yourself first.  How can we get encouraged when we do not believe we have nothing to be encouraged about?

Hmmm…  Point to ponder, right?  This is the foundation of it all.  If you are created to bring to the world your gifts, you must first identify them and then believe in their value.  YOUR VALUE.  That way you can share those gifts with confidence.  So many of us get stuck at this juncture and it is not an easy corner to turn.  This is one enlightening nugget I have started to harness.  It feels really good to be on this road!  As I take one small step at a time, I invite you to do the same.

Let’s walk this together!  If you are already ahead, PLEASE SHARE YOUR TIPS: you never know how you will help others when you open up about how you are gaining success (and that is with all areas of life!)

So, my friends, I ask you again:

If you had a chance to pick 3 lights from the magical forest we talked about earlier, what would they be?  Which 3 pieces of wisdom have you received during 2015 that really spoke to your heart?  Drop me a line or two in the comments section please!  I would love to hear about it and also think that by sharing, you will be helping others get enlightened too 🙂

Here’s to a fully enlightened path in 2016!

  1. I think it’s a great idea to reflect on the year past and on the one to come and really consider what you have received and what you will look forward to. I love your magical light bulbs and completely agree with surrounding yourself with meaningful people. That in itself makes for a huge difference in anyone’s life. Happy 2016!

  2. I think surrounding yourself with positive people is so important. They are always full of energy and motivation. Have a great 2016!

  3. I have struggled with anxiety for several years now and am learning to reboot my life all over. All your suggestions is what I have been doing. Especially the part about keeping the “negative” people out of my life. My life and my hubbies life is too precious now to worry about all that. thank you for this wonderful post to read today to help start off the new year.

    • Thank you Tammy! I really appreciate your comments: indeed, life is way too precious for us to have to worry about being brought down by negative people and worth surrounding ourselves with the positive ones! Happy 2016!!!

  4. Not sure I can come up with three right now, but the first two are surround yourself with people that support you and your dreams and go for what you want. We only live once that we know of, so we might as well live it to the fullest.

  5. Keeping positive people in your circle is so important. I find that if I get focused on the negative, it is so difficult to get unstuck without some motivation and reminders from positive people! Plus, keeping an ear out for the music I listen to helps me keep my moods in check – not too many songs about conflict or I really start to feel down.

  6. Yes, yes and YES! Believing in your value is so important. Also, it’s so amazing when you souring yourself with positive people. That in itself has changed my life for the better <3

  7. I love the inspirational messages…so simple but very meaningful. I particularly value in surrounding yourself with great peeps!

  8. I definitely learned to respect and know my value in 2015. In 2016, I’m going to not be such a people pleaser!

  9. I tend to take things way too seriously as well. I didn’t used to be this way, but after 15 years of being married to a grumpy person, it sort of wears you down. Time for that to change!

  10. I have learned in the last year to not say yes to everything. I don’t have time to enjoy life when I’m doing so many things I feel obligated to do.

  11. This is a great list of word of wisdom that you’ve put together. Admittedly, I have moments when I struggle about seeing my value – comes in phases but I always manage to wake myself up and get my groove back.

    • Thank you Russ! I am so glad you are able to “get your groove back” because it is the most essential part of life: getting back up 🙂
      Happy New Year 2016!

  12. I appreciate this so much. Today was a bit hectic and I got really frustrated with everything that was expected of me. This serves as a motivation, really.

    • Thank you Elizabeth! I am glad you found motivation in this post and invite you to stay connected with MeUnfinished.com and to get our daily “uplifts” on Facebook (Facebook.com/MeUnfinished). Maybe that will help you on a more consistent basis 🙂
      Happy New Year!

  13. I too struggle with anxiety. It is something that no one can understand unless they experience it themself. To get past my anxiety I have found it helpful to remember that no one is perfect! It is impossible to be perfect and it’s beautiful to be imperfect. Another great bit of advice I heard this year is “if you live in the past you are depressed and if you live in the future you are anxious. The way to happiness is to live in the present.” Isn’t that a great point? Happy New Year!

    • Oh wow!!! Love this!!! Thank you for this point Jessica 🙂 I hope this year brings you lots of great blessings. What a way to start the year! I am learning just as you are and am accepting so many great truths about life and about myself. Thank you for sharing, I appreciate it so much!

  14. I love your wisdom and the part where you mention to surround yourself with meaningful people is my favorite!

  15. HAPPY NEW YEAR! The biggest thing I learned in 2015 was the power of surrounding myself with positive people.

It is so elementary and I knew it but I wasn’t living it until now.

    • Hi Mimi! Indeed it is a big one… I am so thrilled to have been working on this. It is essential to have the right people around us. I hope this year proves to be the beginning of the best years of your life!

  16. Three great points! I am really looking at who I surround myself with in 2016. And also knowing my worth. It is so easy to question yourself and your worth, so I am working on this daily.

  17. This is a really good idea. It’s nice to be able to reflect on things.

  18. I must say I love these 3 pearls of wisdom. You summed up what living life should be about in my opinion and thanks for that. Happy Holidays to all.

  19. We have someone in our family who has anxiety too. It’s so hard to not be able to help more. Wishing you a wonderful new year.

    • Thank you Rosey! I wish you a great 2016 too and know that there is always a choice. Keep helping your loved one to choose to work on getting over the anxiety one step at a time 🙂

  20. What a brilliant post – and so true. I intend to apply them all in 2016. Thank you. Kaz

  21. I love this so much and I think would choose the same three lights that you shared. All 3 are vitally important to my life and my future goals!

  22. I would choose to surround myself with meaningful people! I think you can do anything when you have people rooting for you and being positive! Happy New Year!

  23. I definitely think #2 is really important. I’ve head to get toxic people out of my life and it’s really made a big difference.

    • I am glad you were able to do that. I have to tell you, it is such a relief when those individuals are no longer dragging you down! Keep going at it and I wish you a great 2016!

  24. Positivity is always key!! Yes I want even more of this in 2016!
