An example of Faith, Courage, and Perseverance
Hello! What a glorious February morning this is in the city of Miami! By the time you read this, this event will have passed, but I am so touched about this that I had to share with you. My best friend/sister is running a half marathon today. I came to support her and stayed with her last night and we woke up at 3 AM, but only fell asleep at 1:20AM!!!
Here is the thing: this woman woke up right at 3AM, prepared her breakfast, prepared coffee for me and tea for her daughter, and served me my coffee in bed! She was very excited, adrenaline racing through her veins. It was something else to witness… she just COULD NOT sleep for her life. She kept jolting and letting out a little cry of joy from time to time all evening. I thought it was amazing. What is even more baffling, is that we are not talking about the regular size 0, running 7 miles a day, going to the gym every day at lunch, with 0.05% of body fat who only eats special diets. This is an ordinary person who decided she had a mission and was going for it.
She poured her heart into it because she wanted to contribute to making a difference in another country, another village, by providing funds to obtain clean water for the inhabitants. She wanted to be part of the Love Revolution at her church. She wants better health for her body, and Heavens know how much of a struggle it has been for her over the years! She wants to be an example to her daughter not only as a character builder, but as a single mother pouring out her love to her child the best way she knows how. She kept the Faith. What a woman! What an individual! 13.1 miles she trained to run/walk over about six months. Oh! Her perseverance! This is impressive to me to say the least.
There are some of us who very easily jump in and can physically or emotionally get themselves prepared without having to do much work. They are blessed. But the others who muster up some courage and go at it no matter how hard the work, who are blessed instead with patience and perseverance, I tip my hat to. This is my friend. This is my sister. Let’s be encouraged by her and learn the lesson of goal setting, perseverance, and accomplishment. What race do you need to prepare for, run, and finish? Don’t hesitate, don’t delay. You will be surprised at how many cheerleaders you will have along the way, and how glorious your finish will be.
By the way, this can get addicting…..
That took Faith!
